The Dog Show #417 – February 22, 2017
Welcome back Patricia McConnell, Ph.D.! Today Julie talks with the author about: “The Education of Will – A Mutual Memoir of A Woman and Her Dog”. In this book, Patricia McConnell courageously shares how her easily startled Border collie, “Willie”, confronted her own symptoms of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Dr. McConnell realized after a long, hard road working with her fearful, reactive dog; that in order to heal him, she’d have to heal herself. We honor Patricia McConnell’s story and know that she is reaching many others who struggle with the repercussions of past trauma. Oftentimes healing requires more than just will-power. Don’t be ashamed to get help!
